Hello

My PS3 sometimes freezes in U2 multiplayer.I know this is a bug it happens at the same point of the game but when this happens my PS3 freeze.What i should do when the PS3 freezes ? I never unplugged the switch on back i always holded the power button and sometimes i just pressed the button but i have reading some posts and some people said that doing this(holding the power button until it beeps and turn off) can damage PS3.The bug happened today and my PS3 freeze.I held the button until it turns off and my PS3 maked a big noise(like something was breaked inside).This is normal?The same noise happens when i acess the hidden menu.Some people said that the thing you should do when this happens is to eject the disc.So what i should do when the PS3 freezes?

The noise doesn't sound normal. Holding the power button until the PS3 powers off is the correct method. Often when you switch back on it'll ask if you want to send a bug report and also to check the hdd. I always do both.

This is the correct way for switching off your PlayStation 3 if it is not responding. It is advised (if its an older model) not to flick the power switch on the back of the console, or cut the power completely.

This does not give the console a chance to shut itself down, whereas holding the power button on the front is fine.

With this issue on Uncharted 2, have you tried deleting all Game Data from the console and reinstalling it to see if this helps, and are any other games affected?

In uncharted 2 i know this is a bug(the dagger stopped spining but the sound still working).And this only happens(rarely)when i play online(single player works fine for me)and Naughty Dog forum has a lot of players with these issues too but like i said it almost never happen.Its a bug.My other games work fine but the other thing that im afraid is the big noise i hear.It happens sometimes when i hold the button to turn off the PS3 when he crash/freeze.I never hold the button in other case i only hold when the PS3 crash or freeze but the noise is strange and it happens every time i try to acess the hidden menu too.Could be the HDD or blu-ray drive?My PS3 is fine too(reading and loading games quickly and properly) but this is all so strange.And sometimes when he freeze on uncharted 2 i can just press the button and it turns off with the three beeps and the big noise dont appear(this time when he crashed i do not hear the 3 beeps but i hear the big noise).Im thinking that when this happened the PS3 thinks that he was running good with no crashes and freezes and i do not turned off the PS3 properly.But the big noise happens every time i try to acess the hidden menu.What it could be?

When this happened i turned on the PS3 and the message to check the HDD do not appeared

Uncharted 2 has two installs in the game data utility. One labelled Uncharted Among Thieves Patch 1.09 contains updates and DLC. One labelled Uncharted Among Thieves this one contains multiplayer live sync updates. 

Try deleting the one with the multiplayer updates and let it update again when select multiplayer. Online progress will not be affected deleting this install fixed a few multiplayer freezes i was getting myself.

Ive already did this a lot of times.Its a bug but sometimes the dagger appear in the multiplayer(if someone leave the game in preparation or if i get connection error or just lag before begin the match)and sometimes i dont load and the dagger stops spinning but the sound was working.I believe my HDD isnt good.Is there any way to test the HDD via PS3?The noise that he makes when acessing the hidden menu is huge.I think that this issues can be my HDD or its just a bug.I cant test putting the HDD in a computer because i dont have the cable.
