Sorry to tell you this but it is either the new firmware that sony has released or the newest patch for the game. I have the same problem it comes to the IW logo then shuts down and goes back onto your ps3 homepage. The game works fine if you are not signed into PSN but as you know most people play this for the online experience. But as soon as you sign in it will instantly turn you off! If you want the single player sign out with no internet connection and you will beable to play the game but not multiplayer. It probably works on your dads because he hasn't updated the patches or the firmware on the ps3. Thats all the info i can give you hopefully Sony or Infinity ward come up with a solutoin.

Nothing to do with Sony it's an Activision published game. If you don't update system software or game software you can't join others online running the latest software.

The most common fix is switching off torrent software or computers running them programmes off on a home network. The thing that must of changed recently is the server ports COD games use or the ports torrent software use. Which are out of Sony's hands to do anything about.

I was going crazy trying to work out y it wouldnt even load up from disk,,,turned off my net and way hay it worked!! then read about P2P so shut off Bit torrent and its all working,,,only took a hour to find this info so thanks all

i called the playstation and they gave me simple steps and thank god it worked , first unplug the PS3 and the router for at least 3 minutes then put the power plug of router till the internet sign appears (means there is internet) , then connect the power plug of PS3 and turn it on , go to the game then multiplayer and enjoy (:

None of these helped me with the problem, my PS3 has its own dedicated internet line

let all the intros go until your ad the ''press start'' menu then you can go online!

just remove the ethernet cable start mw2 and then plug it in agian!!!

guys the solution is turn off your bittorrent program i.e bittorrent, bit comet, utorrent , vuze. and try go online. do not hide in tray exit the program
