PS3 HDD GB limit?

[ Edited ]

Hello everyone!

I have a small question. I want to upgrade my hard drive (ps3 one) from 230 gb to something a bit better. I heard lots of people saing that 500GB works great, but my question is... does 1TB also works?

I saw on some forums people saying: "oh it gives problems, bla bla go for the 640gb". Does it realy give problems, or... :smileyhappy:

Thanks!

P.s. When I upgrade and do a backup, can I still "back up and restore" my Ps3 PLUS games? (the ones you lose when you run out of plus sub.)

Thanks for the help!

P.s.s.: My Model is a 40GB model.

Re: PS3 HDD GB limit?

1TB is fine upgraded my 40GB model with a Samsung M8 1TB drive earlier this year. One thing to check with larger capacity drive's is the physical dimensions not all will fit the PS3.

Re: PS3 HDD GB limit?

As the poster above me has clearly stated, just make sure the dimensions of the hard drive are correct (7 x 10 x 0.9cm). If they're exactly that measurement and it's a 2.5 inch 5400rpm SATA internal hard drive then you should have no problems. It's wise not to exceed the 5400rpm the PlayStation currently uses as it could overheat your console.

1TB is a fine size. There has been a lot of talk about how popular the 500GB is as people really like that much space, anything above that is good space. (I'll be getting a 500GB myself in the coming weeks; from 120GB).

If you are still a PS Plus member then you can redownload and use your freebies. Remember any games that you purchase at a discount you keep whether you're PS Plus or not, any stuff that you get your free you can only use if your a PS Plus member. If you run out of PS Plus they are removed until you resubscribe, you can get them back by going on store download history, then just simply redownload them.

Re: PS3 HDD GB limit?

Thank you all!

So that mean that, if I want to redownload a "free game for plus only", that is no longer on the "store", I can still get iton the History? :smileysurprised: I had no idea! Thanks ^^

Re: PS3 HDD GB limit?

Yes, you can re-download anything that you've downloaded previously if it still appears on your download list.
