If your HDD is fine then Stop posting links To HDDs, lol

BD drive or HDD time to make your mind up.

If its BD drive it can't be replaced with out lots of Sony level engineer skills.

The slims BD drive electronics is paired to PS3 motherboard they can't be replaced if faulty

BD laser

for BD drive can be replaced if you have the skills.

As for HDD 80GB for £27 is a bit expensive. you should be able to get 120GB 2.5 laptop HDD for £27.

BD drive as a single Unit CAN NOT be replaced By normal Joe public.

You can replace the laser carriage unit. The bit that reads the BD/DVD/CDs.

This means Total disassembly of not only the PS3 but also the BD drives sealed unit.

As posted earlier BD protection system of the PS3 means the Chips inside the BD drive hardware are paired with the motherboard of the PS3. This is a digital protection system that causes any other BD drive to be ignored by the motherboard. This is because each pairing is unique to every unit.

Nope won't work.

Each BD drive is Digitaly encoded to only work with that Single PS3 motherboard.
