Re: PS3 Slim Sounds Like A MotorBike

NEVER under any circumstances purchase cooling systems for the PS3. They're all hinderances and waste energy whilst generating more heat.

Ensuring 4 inches of free space around all sides of the PS3 and that it's not got a Sky+ or +HD box next to it helps too.

Re: PS3 Slim Sounds Like A MotorBike

I wouldn't say they're all hinderances. But the ones that take the power from the PS3 tend to cause more heat than cooling as strangeplaice pointed out.

You could try it as it may well provide extra cooling to the PS3 but do so at your own risk. I think a better solution would be to open a window or perhaps place an external fan above/near it.

You should also make sure all vents are clear with lots of space around them and the ps3 is in a cool environment.

Another thing that can surprisingly make a lot of difference is simply turning down the heating :smileywink:

Re: PS3 Slim Sounds Like A MotorBike

Another thing to check is that if the PlayStation 3 is on a hard surface then vibrations from the fan can be amplified.  Def worth checking for!
