PS3 abruptly shuts down as soon as the controller is turned on

Hello,

I have a PS3 Slim model that has a weird issue.

I turn the PS3 on, and everything is fine.

I have a controller connected via USB, as soon as i turn it on, the PS3 abruptly shuts down.

After that, i have to pull the power cable out and reconnect in order to bring it back up.

What could be the reason for it to abruptly power off, and how can i fix it ?

Please use plain text.

Re: PS3 abruptly shuts down as soon as the controller is turned on

Just to add, this specific PS3 was also randomly powering off in the past, now it seems that it happens only when the controller gets turned on.

Has anyone seen such beheaviour?

Re: PS3 abruptly shuts down as soon as the controller is turned on

If it's just the one controller try pushing a pin into the reset slot (underneath, at the top, near the middle screw).

Get a new controller.

Humm this is a strange one?

I would mirror the above advise and try resetting the controller (this is done by pushing the small button on the rear with a paper clip or something similar) and also try using a different controller and see how you get on.
