ps3 console wont start up. When i turn it on the red light goes to green, then orange then straight back to flashing red, where it stays. Ps3 is approximately 5 yrs old. Does this mean the hard drive needs replacing. If so what do i buy.

Unfortunately, this means your PS3 has broken. You'll need to call Sony customer support and inform them and they'll give you a repair/refurbishment. This usually costs between £100-£150.
