This happened few times to me before every time with new DVD inserted, but yesterday I had it lock completely 3 times in a row before it could read the new DVD I just bought. I had to pull the plug 3 times because PS3 would not respond to anything. This only happens with new DVDs I haven't played on my PS3 yet and this is getting out of hand.

How many DVDs have you tried and is this occurring on all of them? This isn't affecting games so it may be related to the DVD reader of the console, but its unusual.
Is it a UK console, and if so are the discs region 2 PAL?
