PS3 not inserting or ejecting disks

I have a Playstation 3 slim CECH 2003A.
The console turns on and works fine besides 3 things.
1) Doesn't insert or eject disks. (Meaning the PS3 isn't 'sucking' in the disks)
2) Doesn't spin the disk once its in.
3) This one is obvious, the PS3 doesn't read any DVD or Blu-ray disks.

I've tried to resolve the issue by Cleaning the lens, checking all the cables are in correctly.
Nothing has worked.

Whenever I do get a CD in.... The Blu ray drive does get the CD in position but it just doesn't spin. It makes a few clicking noises for about 20 seconds and then stops again.

I found a YouTube video of my problem; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8ltf4bdLVU

If anyone has had this problem and solved it or if anyone has any clues on how to fix it then please let me know...

Re: PS3 not inserting or ejecting disks

Sounds like your disc drive has broken. You'll need to call Sony customer support and inform them and they'll give you a repair/refurbishment. This typically costs >£100 but shouldn't be much more that that.

The number is 0844 736 0595 for the UK

Re: PS3 not inserting or ejecting disks

I suggest not going to sony to repair your problem. If you're in warranty give them a call and check how much they will charge you. If it's to bad then don't bother, Just go to a local computer repair store and check how much they will do it for, Usually much cheaper. it's actually not hard to Open your console and replace the parts yourself but if you're in warranty and don't want to lose it then don't open it.

Re: PS3 not inserting or ejecting disks

Its a 3 year old console now... It was one of the first new slim models so it definately isn't covered by Sonys' 1 year manufacture Gaurantee.

I just wanted to post on here to see if its a minor issue anyone else has that I can fix myself without bothering Sony and my walet.

I'll probably opening up the BluRay Drive again to check everything is in place as a last attemt before I give in and go to a Repair Shop.

Now, all I need is a way to 'fix' it..
