Nothing worked but I haven't tried a different hard drive so I will try to get a hard drive off a friend

I still havnt fixed it yet. It says'Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found'

Would I be able to use an external hard drive somehow? because i dont have a 2.5 sata hard drive that works.

You cannot start a PS3 with an external drive. Either you'll need to replace the drive with another 2.5inch one, or you could try using another PS3/PC to format it, then put it back in, assuming it the drive still works.

I got it working.... i finally got a new hard drive 

im still ***** at sony though because surely a ps3 should last over a 1 year and 4 months.

I quess when my ps3 dies i will be moving over to xbox with the lovely RROD but at least you can fix that for a couple of dollars instead of $100 (for a new hard drive)

i lost everything on my ps3 so a tip for everyone is to back up your data
