PS3 sending no signal

My ps3 sends no signal to my tv either through hdmi or av cable. The only time is when it comes on is when i start it in safe mode, i've tried going through all the menu options and still nothing. I think it has something to do with the HDD, maybe not. Can anyone help, thanks in advance.

Have you tried the video reset? (hold the power button until it beeps and then release it) It sounds like it is just outputting a signal your tv cannot handle (usually when it is set to 1080p and the tv is only 720p / 1080i)
