While I was using the Internet browser in the PS3 to download a movie my PS3 first lagged and then showed me a blue screen filled with error codes and then the PS3 turned off by itself and restarted. Then after it restarted it took me to the beginning where I had to press the PS button and then choose what language I wanted in my PS3. This is exactly what someone does when they first get their PS3 and have to choose their settings like what time zone the individual lives, the time where you live and check for Internet connection. Well I started from scratch but saw that I still had my saved data. My games, demos, pictures from PS Home, videos, movies and music. But when I started playing a game, Battlefield Bad Company to see if the saved data was corrupted or anything it was all ok. But when I saw my avatar that's next to my ID in my friends list, which I downloaded through a one time code, I saw it was just a smily face. So I went to check the avatars that I downloaded using a code, they weren't there. So I knew that anything I owned by using a code where gone. And it was true. I lost my avatars and an Online Pass for Ratchet and Clank and maybe other things. So can anyone please help me and explain what is happening because I'm not that much of a technology person. PLEASE.

I have had that error myself using 4OD catch-up service. Have a look at your user(s) profile far left-hand of XMB and edit out the asterix's from your user. Asterix's are left after a blue screen crash which can often cause problems with store content.
If your still have problems with avatars, themes or DLC they may need re-downloading via purchase history list top right corner of the PS store. Another tip whatever site you were viewing that caused the error try avoiding it. I wont touch 4OD via the tv section anymore use it via the browser instead.

Yeah I also saw the little star right next to each user. Well what happened is I downloaded everything again and everything went back to normal. All I have to do now is avoid using the Internet in the PS3. And sorry I didn't comment as soon as you posted this. It's because the Internet went out and had to wait till today to comment back. And what happened when you got your blue screen?

When it happened to me i had to set-up connection settings, PSP remote play settings, headset settings and pair controllers again. Also had to delete and re-install a few themes and some DLC can't remember the exact content.
I still use the PS3 browser but not for anything too taxing and i avoid memory hogging websites which i'll view via my PC. PS3 browser for me is handy for what i want for quickness for big screen alternative to my PC desktop.

Yeah. Thank God it didn't corrupt the PS3 HDD. That would of been horrific to witness.
