I noticed a few people complaining around the internet today after the 4.10 update and what its done to the wireless stereo headset.

People were saying you could now hear your own voice in the headset and that it seems to be quite loud. Because of that you now can't hear the game sound effects as well as you could and you also hear your own voice on top of other people in the online chat you are having.

I just tried it myself and its horrible.

I paid £90 for this headset from Game so I could game in peace. The headset covering your full ears used to really shut out every other sound around you so there was no distractions. I couldn't even hear the phone ring next to me when I'm using them. Well worth the money I thought.

4.10 comes along and now the microphone is picking up everything and playing it back to your ears. I now hear a load of static and I could even hear the washing machine from the kitchen being played back to me. Unbelievable.

I know this was a deliberate addition to the firmware because the headset does such a good job of blocking out sound, you weren't aware of how loud you were talking into the mic. I can see why they added it, but its something I don't want and there should be an option to disable it.

This is a priority that needs fixed ASAP otherwise Game or Sony will need to refund me because the headset is no longer fit for purpose for me personally.

strange because mines is still working perfectly , cant hear myself just like before

A quick check of the US Playstation forum shows 4 threads out of the first 12 threads are about this issue.

I'm getting it too once loaded up a ps3 game... Not too bad for me as I have it set very quiet anyway, but I can definitely hear a hissing when hear your voice mode activates... Sure this can be a tick box option in a later version!

Try the voice volume slider on the other side of the volume?

if you can hear you own voice i will love this update, i find myself speaking to loud with this headset atleast now i can judge how loud im speaking liek when i have TB's

I am behind this syncrouk 100% it needs sorting ASAP What is the bloody point of having a headset that hears everything around you and then transmits that to you in some form of 7.1 surround, THATS WHAT MY EARS ARE FOR. You should be able to disable it, maybe with double click of mute It's ruining a gaming experience that made the wirless headset so fantastic I am honestly gutted. And as for the bright idea of lowering the voice slider which I'm sure you mean the chat slider then what's the point if I then can't hear my team mates? Also I don't want to have to disable the mic every time I want to listen to music through it or watch a movie because I can hear myself breathing or munching amplified into surround sound over whatever it is I'm listening to? Absolutely useless to me now, and I'm gutted as I had these imported to uk from Canada on launch.

The problem is that you can hear your self and i hear a static,rusting that is annoying
