The background sound is always horrible like hell. there is a "shhhhhhhhh" totally unacceptable for a 100$ headset.

Yes the headset is functional but the audio quality has deteriorated greatly due to the microphone monitoring. At the very least microphone monitoring should be a configurable property from the XMB.
This is a closed headset and my people purchased it for the purpose of not having to hear outside or background noise. Because of microphone monitoring this has completely reversed since the 4.10 firmware update. The mic pickup is at such a high/sensitive level that it is picking up every tiny bit of background noise outside the headset and feeding it back in through the mic monitoring function. This results in a lot of static and background noise bleeding in when it shouldn't be and it has a negative effect on the overall game sound and music.

Even muting the microphone doesn't disable the microphone monitoring feature. This is a bug. Whether microphone monitoring is on or off, when the microphone is muting it should not still be picking up background noise and my voice and feeding that back into the headset when muted.

I, like 95% of all other owners of this headset want the functionality reversed to how it was before 4.10. I understand a select few have requested microphone monitoring as a feature but many of us do not want this. I have no issue with speaking into the mic and not shouting when using this closed headset. If you are going to add microphone monitoring then is should be done through a preference and not forced upon us.

Many of us purchased this headset based on its great audio quality and we don't like to have that ruined during multiplayer games because the microphone monitoring feature that was added is busted.

I cant believe sony is not listening to us. (US/FRENCH or GERMAN forum have the same request, why no communication from sony ?)

I have contacted Sony 9 times now over the matter and I keep getting the same response. One will say they are working on the fix, another will say that it's the settings and to fix them. It's ridiculous. I say that the headphones are not usable, and they still won't warranty anything. TERRIBLE SERVICE SONY!

I got my headset today, and gotta say that 'ssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh' static sound is really annoying. Headset works just fine, i just test it on PC, so its ps3..

It's odd, I don't have any static on mine and my voice level isn't that loud.

I haven't bothered to read all the thread (why would I - mine seems fine) but have any of you guys tried going into the configuration and lowering the mic sensititvity?

Is there any more news on a fix for this as I still can't use my headset.

We need an option to turn off mic monitoring and go back to how it was before 4.10. That would stop the horrible static noise.

It doesn't matter how I configure the volume sliders it's still there until I turn off the mic input in the audio device settings but then I can't use the mic.

the static sound is totally insane during the waiting of mw3 for example, but ingame, its less important, BUT still present, and its is NOT acceptable for a 100$ headset...

You can't alter the mic sensitivity on any of the official sony headsets they are all locked at 3.
