Hi, in my bedroom I have a 42" Samsung plasma tv which I use to play my PS3.

In my living room I also have another 42" Samsung plasma tv.

The PS3 works fine with the tv in my bedroom, however when I take my PS3 through to the living room and connect it up it doesn't work. Just a black screen with the message 'Mode not supported'

I've tried all the HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI 3, EXT 1, EXT 2, AV but can't see the PS3 screen. The PS3 is working fine and switches on okay, I just cant see the picture on the screen.

Any ideas?

Have you reset the video on the PS3? Have down the power button on the PS3 for 4-5 seconds, until you hear the second beep. If you set HDMI to auto it should pickup the resolutions from the TV.

If you still have problems try a different HDMI cable.

This is often called a soft touch reset, and resets the display output for the PlayStation 3 so it works with the TV, more info here.

Do the two have different resolutions, ie one is Full HD (1080p) and the other HD Ready (720p, 1080i)?

I tried holding down the power button for 5 seconds and it worked.

I can now play my PS3 on both tv's. Thanks for the help
