I have three ps3s. Two of which I have updated with the latest software.
On these 2, when playing vids on youtube xl, the framerate is ridiculously low and unwatchable. If i advance to full screen it goes ok, but then if i click on the bar to watch i particular point in the video, this instantly reverts the screen back to small again ( and bad framerate). Very buggy. My ps3 which hasnt been updated is fine! Also, my mate at work has the same issue with his ps3. Anybody help? How can I report this without ringing the rip off phone line?
Cheers
Matt

Oh, yeah, I'm sure the desktop version is sound, (as is the pre updated PS3 version)
I'm really not being fussy regarding the framerate though. It's dire and embarrassing. ( 3 fps)
Would anybody care to try it and confirm? I know it's prolly an effort typing in with the controller, but I specially bought two full size keyboards for using this app for quick access to vids.
As I see it I have two options.
1) Wait for sony to update and fix (if indeed it isn't just something I can toggle (tho I've tried messing with cache, resolution, screen size etc)
2) Un install the update. Can I do this? Can I reset the machine and then ignore future requests to install (as I have done with my ps3 that isnt up to date and works perfectly).
I'm finding it difficult tofind how to get in touch with sony online to directly query this. Maybe I should hold a seance ![]()
Cheers for your reply though mate.

There's no toggles or settings that'll fix it I'm afraid. Either YouTube need to update the app, or NetFront need to update the browser.

Unfortunately, especially now thanks to piracy and hacks, firmware can't be downgraded. Once you're on an OS you're stuck with it till the next one. You can always ignore them a bit but will lose PSN access as a result.
As for contacting Sony, their customer support numbers are available here, and a list of email addresses here ![]()

Hi guys,
I'm just going to offer some thoughts on this:
With the most recent firmware update, there were updates made to the browser that were supposed to improve its ability to display certain sites. It shouldn't have had any negative impact on the playback of videos on Youtube XL. Having said that going on there myself the fidelity is quite low as is the framerate.
I believe this would have more to do with updates to the Youtube site, rather than anything else. What I will do is raise this from our side and if I receive any feedback I will let you know.

have you tried ps3 youtube: http://www.ps3youtube.com/
it's not as quick to access as xl, as you have to follow the initial procedure (i think after every browser close) shown in green at the top of the page.
it only takes a few seconds though & the quality is a lot higher.
also, skipping to different points of a vid is seamless, whereas (for me anyway) this can be sketchy with xl
