please help I purchased a ps3 slim and I cant do anything on it says   demonstration mode 4.23 at the bottom of my screen   HELP

Replace the hard drive, that should allow you to install the correct firmware

someone told me to wait for playstation to release a new update but how long will that take

I don't know if your PS3 will update when it is in this mode. It may but in any case it may be some months before the next one.

you bought a ps3 demo model, its not for the public only stores and sony... if you can get your money back go do that, if not you have been had...

Unfortunately you cannot remove the firmware manually, but firmware is located in the HDD, if you can replace the HDD then you will be able to play PS3 normally.

There is a way to unlock it, search google. But the demo PS3s are Sony's property.

Hi guys,

If this is a shop purchased console and this software is installed, as the software is not official the console is therefore out of warranty.

The only thing would be to contact PlayStation Support to replace the console at this stage if you are unable to install the normal firmware.
