Problem with wifi connection to computer- A Media Server Connection

i heard you can connect your computer to the ps3 via the wifi home network and can play media files from the public folder on the ps3.

 

i was not able to make that connection, does anyone know's how to?

Do you mean through the media server connection? There's a guide to setting it up below:
