Is the PS3 able to play CDs and DVD's okay? And how about BluRay movies?

I reckon your PS3 is days, if not already, away from biting the dust

If you've had it under a year, it's able to be replaced for free by giving Sony a call here. If you're out of warranty there's a £130 charge, so you may be better off buying a new one.

 RabidWalker may have some more advice, but that's me out of ideas. Sorry!

Can you try a game from the PSN store. Does that work?

i tried everything on the Ps3 menu no luck i tried different display and video settings

tried restoring system to default settings didn't work
