 I feel for you. It sucks when things break out of warranty. You might be able to sell it off to a shop, and use the money for a new one In the meantime, here's a nice picture!

A store may take it as preowned if you need rid of it. If it runs a game when they try it they'll take it and repair/recondition it so it can be resold.

my ps3 is bust it takes like an hour or two just to start a game and plus most the time while waiting for the game to loading i hear like two ticks and then i hear the noise of my game coming out of the disc drive but it doesn't and then the blue disc doesn't pop up.

Also, you could sell it for parts if you're tech savvy and know how to handle the parts

I've had the exact same problem with a ps3 40gb, for what i have gathered , it seems to be a problem with the gpu not with the drive, (i formatted my drive 3 times thinking it was that, rebuild Database, rebuild ps3 system and nothing worked) I was not able to play any demos downloaded from the network, XMB loaded fine but when it wanted to load the game it would give me a black screen.  It would take the PS3 to be on for like an hour or two, and that is because it need it to heat well to play the games, so i called around a few places and for what it seems is that it is about to fail, take it to a ps3 store or a technician they might need to do a reballing, or heat it up to stregthen the soldering on the gpu or something like that. well i live in Peru and it is a lot easier to get it fixed here, only 50-100 us Dollars, if they need to replace the gpu. good luck my friend, i will be doing this this weekend, and i will let you know how it went before you do any thing.

how did it go? i having the same problem and i about to buy a xbox 360. so my ps3 needs a new laser because its reading dics then i gonna have to buy a new hdd just in case. so i going to take it to a shop and i going to tell them to reball put new thermal paste and reflow the motherboard that should defiantly work thanks
