Hello since ive had my ps3 i havent had any problems and now since the new update my ps3 isnt connecting. First off when i tried to download the 4.20 update i had tried via internet but that wasnt working so i put it on a usb and did so that way. Now whenever i log on it has trouble connecting to psn and varies alot. Oh and i am using a wireless connection. But one thing i noticed is that my friends list is not loading and when it does it doesnt show who is online and not it just says that they are not which i had tested with someone on my friends list. The errors i get constantly change but are all in the 800s. Should i change my wireless to wired? Or is there something else wrong. Also whenever i try to get onto the playstation store it just freezes up and wont work. All help is appreciated

I have the same problem also. The wierd thing is, I updated to 4.2 and after that, I was able to play fifa 12 online. It was the next day when i started my ps3 again , it kept saying there is a problem with my internet connection and could not sign in eventhough i'm still able to go on the internet on my laptop. I tried everything, reset my router, restarted my modem, set up my internet connection settings all over again on my ps3, no luck. Hopefully, someone replies to our posts and lets us know what is goin on.

Yeah im able to play online sometimes but mostly the problem im having is some errors when trying to sign in manually at start up and my friends list isnt working.

Your question on whether to go wired i would say yes anyday it'll give you a far stable and reliable connection.

I have sort of the same problem but my ps3 wont sign into the network. I have it on automatically sign in but an error message appears. Then when I try to sign in manually it says I need to update my system software. So I say update and it says that I have the latest version of the software and exits and does sign me in. I also use a wireless connection. I have software version 4.11 and I know that is not the latest version. I cant play online because I cant log into the network. I did install a game update from the Internet after this had started and I'm sure that you need to sign in to do that but I don't know what's going on. Please if u have any idea on how to help me please reply.

I got fed up with it not working. i tried to download the update on my pc and update via usb. i downloaded it. the thing didnt give me instructions on how to use the update to update my ps3. so i just put it on the flash and put it in the ps3 but when i tried to update it said there was no update aplication found. i then looked on and answer forum and got the instructions: make two folders PS3 and UPDATE. put UPDATE in the PS3 folder and the file in that. i did so and the same thing happened. the thing still found no software and i dunno what to do. the file is PS3UPDAT.PUP. i dunno if i downloaded the wrong file or what. the software version is 4.21 by the way. i downloaded it form the South African psn website since this is where i live. thanks for the reply. ill try the troubleshooting. will tell u if it helps

the trouble shooting was for ps3's that do not want to connect to the internet. my ps3 connects to the internet and i can use the internet but it wont log me in unless i have the newest software version however my playstation says it has the newest software and so it wont need to update but i know that is not the case so as i said i tried using my pc to update but it gives me a message saying that no aplication software was found. so my case has not got any better. please help me :'(.

You are placing the firmware file in the following directory - PS3 > UPDATE, right? And the PS3 folder is located in the root directory of your USB flash drive, and the folder names and file name are all in capital letters?

To sign in for me most of the time I have to refresh the connection to my hub through network settings. It doesn't really bother me that much as it doesn't take that long and it's now a habit.
