I have a European model PS3 (CECH-2004A) and several Blu Rays, some work others dont, those that do are all regions ABC or dont specify the region. When playing region B blurays it sees the disc doesnt play (might get some content warning message etc) and i have to power off the console to get any response.

Any Ideas how to get this sorted? 
latest firmware, no mods etc... just wanting to use it as a blu ray source.

To confirm, you're on version 4.11?

Have you checked the movies for chips, cracks etc? Also, have you tried them in another bluRay player or PS3 system? You could always take them back and see if they can be replaced.

Tried cleaning the lens with a Blu-Ray cleaner disc? The lens may be riddled with dirt.

Would that not affect all discs and not those specifically labelled region B only, i have no issues with gaming either.

cant test on another bluray palyer  the discs looked fine, its the first thing i checked.

Blu-Ray region B is European content so you should not be having any problems.

Its most likely a disk reading issue.  Give the steps in this guide a go and let us know how you get on.

Looks like i am going to call the support line, the discs are fine and i dont have anyone really with a blu ray player or ps3 console thats near by!

Just spoken to tech support - nice chap told me to deselect the 1080p resolution, try the disc, it worked, put it back up to 1080p and it worked again.( that goes for the 2 discs i was having trouble with)

Wonder if the video card just needed a friendly kick up the rear!?
