Scratchy noise through HDMI

Seems my ps3 has developed the annoying 'scratchy' sound, but only through the hdmi??  Does it constantly on every game/film or music i play through it. Tried 2 different hdmi's, but still no joy.

I reverted back to the scart cable to check and that came through with a normal sound again.

I then tried it set up with an optical cable straight to my surround sound and that also worked fine. So, by process of ilimination, there' something dodgy about my hdmi output (but only on the sound, the picture is stil crystal clear).

I also restored it back to factory settings in case i'd adjusted something without realising and tried the hdmi again, but still no joy.

Any idea's, is this a sony known issue and i should go back to the store, or is there a quick fix or something obvious i should look at???

Please use plain text.

Re: Scratchy noise through HDMI

How do you know for sure that the issue is with your PS3's HDMI socket? Could be your TV's socket that's causing the issue.

Re: Scratchy noise through HDMI

......tried all 3 hdmi tv sockets, with 2 different hdmi cables before posting up, still scratchy. To double check i also tested the sky box in all 3 tv hmdi inputs and the sound was fine.

I'm pretty dam sure ive localised it back to the ps3 hdmi output :smileysad:
