Stop Working

Ps3 shut down by itself. No Flashing lights or anything. Try to turn it back on and the green light comes on for a few seconds then shuts back off. NO FLAHING LIGHTS!!!! What's wrong and how do I fix it? No Longer under warranty

It may be that there is an internal issue with the console, however you could try an alternative power lead in there to see if this helps at all?

If you've made sure all of the connectors and cables are fine, then it's a safe bet that the PSU has bit the dust. If you're good with hardware, know your way round a PS3 and can tell your capacitor from your inductor then you may be able to replace it.

To do this you'd  need an identical PSU from the same model of PlayStation. If you're using a CECHG03 model of PS3, you'd be best replacing the unit with another from the same type.

If you're not that great with hardware you're best asking a professional to do it, or buy a new PS3

If you can convince Sony to help you it's £130 and they'll completely replace it. If you opt for a local shop, expect to pay around £60-£80 for a repair on the current one. Though that repair wouldn't necessarily be upto Sony's standard, whereas the replacement would.
