Sub Account Management

Hey I recently purchased a Playstation Network Recharge Card and attempted to redeem it via the playstation store, however I was unsuccessful as according to the system I was classified as a sub account. I am the only user on the console and am unaware of any previous sub account settings. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
