Two broken PS3s = One good PS3?

Basically I have two broken PS3s. Both are 60 GB models and both have different problems. One can't read discs so the lens is gone and the other has a faulty power supply. They are both out of warranty so I have no problem opening them up. Does anyone have any idea how I'd go about making one functioning PS3 out of these teo broken ones? I mean I must have all the parts.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Do you know for a fact that these parts are at fault? have you tried any troubleshooting?

Re: Two broken PS3s = One good PS3?

my son put a 2p inside my disck drive once, it was very easy to take out and replace, a few screws and removal of a ribbon. their are videos on youtube on how to do it. wether or not the ps will recognise the new driver is for someone with more tech know how than me.

Yeah I'm very sure that these two parts are what is at fault. I've done a lot of research on both problems and they seem pretty textbook. I'm thinking of switching the blu ray drives.

If I were you, I would switch the power supplies. I would want to move the BluRay drives as little as is possible to minimise the risk of ending up with two broken Blu Ray drives.

Yeah I've been doing some research and switching the power supplies does seem the best option. Thanks for the help everyone!

Cool :smileyhappy: Just make sure you get the right wires back in the right places!
