Dudes,
I think 99% of PS3 users can't get the machine working let alone be able to update using a USB memory stick! If we find ourselves looking at the XMB menu in a position to update our console with the 4.25 update using a USB stick I think we won't bother attempting it!
The PS3 4.25 update had finished off most of the networks users who have downloaded FIFA 13 and needed the update to play it! Now we are all on the " press red button until it bleeps to turn off the system, unplug the AC power cord, wait a few minutes, restart the system and the update, (please don't make us laugh or INSULT OUR INTELLIGENCE), will resume automatically MERRY GO ROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My prognosis; we're all going to have to buy a reconditioned PS3 unless under warrantee from these incompetent service providers, sorry incompetent 'no service/ terrible customer service and take take take take- no give' service providers!
Was only two maybe three updates ago when sony managed to wreck 1000's of PS3 blue-ray readers overnight. All blamed the PS3 update. Sony did nothing but take money for new consoles or refurbs. Looks like they're short of cash again!
This service has unfolded, for us all to see, into a money grabbing farce with a terrible customer service that listens but does nothing, where our words go in one ear and out the other and where the response is NEVER in OUR favour but always resluts in us paying for another machine!
I'll be paying for a 4th console, purchased my 1st PS3 when they hit the stores. That is an unnaceptable life span for a top speck console that stays in one place undisturbed!
A totally fed up gamer!

i would agree that the ps3 has not been very reliable but to say fw 4.25 has wrecked thousands of legitimate ps3s im not sure thats right, not one of my friends has had issues including my two nephews and me, if its wrecked thousands of jailbroken ps3s then I for one am happy about that as those users have ruined many games and from recent posts on these forums and everywhere else about 4,23 theirs many users thats jailbroken them.

I do not own a jailbroken PS3.
I'd say a couple of thousand is not far fetched as an estimate of how the 4.25 update has negatively affected PS3 owners. Yeah I could be wrong but surely there are many faced with the same issues.
Thanks

I think a realistic number would be somewhere around 5-15% of ps3s (those that updated) are having the problems. Thats just my personal impression from posts in different forums.
Where some(most) managed to still update somehow and getting out of the loop or not even having the loop at all.
Of course the numbers are too high and its inacceptable. And yes, sony does want to sell more slims to empty stock and make room for the SuperSlim! That is a fact I would say. But do they on purpose create bad firmware updates? I dont know. I would think they just rushed it out for security issues , and they might be too lazy in the department that does the firmware upgrades.
Maybe its time for a new easier console where you dont have to install firmware updates every couple of months (I think its too often).

THIS FIRMWARE UPDATE HAS MESSED UP MY PS3.....OMG, these Sony guys should revise this update as soon as possible.

This thread is a duplicate of multiple other threads. Please keep discussion of firmware 4.25 issues in the main thread here.
