Well sony.. Congratulations. *SLOW CLAPS* (4.25 update error)

So here i am, after a week i decide to turn on my ps3, a new update i see.. well i'll just download it & play some games for a few hours. right? Nope...

Well.. as usual with sony, they fail at even bringing out a update we can actually download.

I've tried 10+ times to download this update but i get to 1% and i get a error.

Is there a solution to fix this error?

And have sony said anything about it yet? Knowing them, they'll leave us in the dark for a few days.

Are you updating from the previous official 4.21 FW or the dodgy custom 4.23 FW?

A lot of people who thought it was a good idea :Stupid: to install custom FW seem to be having problems.

If you are updating from the previous official 4.21 FW might be worth rebooting your router or running a wired connection to your PS3.

fi8767 - how can you lie so blatantly? You have replied to threads who are having the same issue as the OP. So, not "everyone" you know has "completed it fine".

I don't want to cause an argument here, but it's obvious to everyone that there is an issue with this update. It might not affect everyone, but nor does the flu, or a cold.

There is no way on earth that all the people who are posting are unlucky enough to have their systems die on the same day, in the same way at pretty much the same time without there being a common factor.

The common factor here.... the update. The sooner SONY get back to people with what's happening the better. Something like this just before Christmas could damage their sales no end.

I want R* and Lego to combine. Lego:Red Dead Redemption!

Yes I also see many posts from people having this same problem. Not just here.

Every firmware update is a risk with any device , but it seems with the PS3 it even riskier. Like I already said a possible solution is to disconnect the Harddrive just after the update process starts which should end the loop. Of course this isnt a very safe method and you do it at your own risk.  Maybe a better solution comes along.

All the people whom I know personally have managed without a hitch. On here it seems that a lot of people updating with disks in the drive are encountering bluray failures.

As for those who I don't know who are getting YLOD, I have no idea why that could be, but they need to contact Sony. In this case I would suggest updating via USB by obtaining the update data from uk.playstation.com and then transferring it from the computer to the console with a flash drive.

Re: Well sony.. Congratulations. *SLOW CLAPS* (4.25 update error)

here is a few step to follow when you do a update...

1. always remove disc in blue-ray
2. always do a recovery menu and Restore File System/Rebuild Database so you know you have a healthy file system
3. wire your ps3 dont update wireless
4. have your ps3 in dmz mode for optimal connection and all needed ports open
5. make sure your connection is stable/good when you download the update
6. when update from usb make sure you dont have a corrupt update file

if you do follow these steps you should be good...
