When watching a DVD is this normal?

I've posted this below, but I want a specific answer on this.

Basically when I'm watching a DVD (don't get Bluray copies of these things over here) I'll sometimes rewind it by a few seconds to catch a bit of dialogue I missed a few seconds ago. In the past it would resume play immediately. Now, however, it instead pauses it and the HDD access indicator is a solid orange colour. After five seconds the dvd resumes play. If you leave it for another 10-20 seconds and rewind again, the same problem happens. Basically this is incredibly annoying, and I suspect the PS3 isn't working as it should.

Am I right to think this? Is this a thing that should not be happening, or has 4.20 firmware caused it?

Re: When watching a DVD is this normal?

Does this happen with all DVD's?

Also, i would have thought blu-rays were available throughout the UK, but i suppose not. Learn something new everyday :smileyhappy:

Hi Bealinator,

Do you have the original HDD in there, or is it an upgrade?

When did this issue start to materialise?

Rabid

Re: When watching a DVD is this normal?

I had to make use of my extended warranty. Console Doctor fixed it for me with a new HDD because the old one was basically fried.

I didn't really watch DVDs after I got it back (catching up with long lost games!), but I started to notice it last week.
