YLOD, how to remove data and credit card details on dead system!?

[ Edited ]

Hi,

Yesterday I had the YLODon my PS3 Fat and decided to just go out and buy a new PS3 slim.

One of my friends asked me if he could have my old PS3 with the YLOD,

so he could see if he could fix it and keep it for himself

My concern is that if I give it to him and he manages to get it working,

will he then have full access to my Credit Card details for the Playstation Network etc.?

If so, is there anyway I can erase this info or stop him having access to it?

FYI.
I have set up my new PS3 slim with the same user name etc.. and set up the sign-in details to playstation network as per what was on the old PS3 fat.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: YLOD, how to remove data and credit card details on dead system!?

He'll be unable to see or use the credit or debit cards.

Remember you have to enter your PSN password to make purchases or use the Account Management Features.

You should change your PSN password too which will lock the account out on the console, and deactivate the account on the console via account management on the PC here:

https://account.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/login.action?service-entity=psn

You'll need to choose deactivate all consoles and then reactivate any others you may have. For video activation if you use the video store, you'll need to call customer support. Otherwise you shouldn't have to.

Thanks for the replies.

One last thing... If I deactiveate the account on all consoles.

Then ReActivate it on the new PS3 slim, would I still be able to

download games that I have already purchased from playstation

network?

I.e,  With ReActivating, does it keep my same User details and purchases

or do I have to register as a new user and therefore loose all

my purchases?

As soon as you log back in on the slim it'll reactivate automatically and all your content will be there.

I just tried to deativeate my old PS3 fat with YLOD from the link supplied earlier,

but it won't let me deactivate it from the PC... =/ If I can't turn it on how on

earth are you ment to deativate it LOL.

the message notification i get when trying to deative at it from the site is:

You can only deactivate your PlayStation®3 system from PlayStation®Network using your PS3™ system. You cannot deactivate it using a PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system or PC.
