Are the fans kicking up loudly?

Mine gets hot at the back as well, although it seems as if the fans are making no effort what so ever. But in actual fact they are working as they should be, even if you can hardly hear them.

Unfortunately there isn't any Sony licensed external fans for the slim that you can purchase to aid the internal fans and reduce the heat of the console. However, there are some third party ones but I wouldn't entrust them as they might not work in co-operation properly with the console. An example would be the precise fan speed.

Because it's a slim is has a safety feature when it overheats. Your PlayStation will abruptly turn off and start blinking a red light and it will not let you turn it on until it cools down. You should only be worried when that happens. It's happened to me before when I had it inside a TV stand, it's now on a small table with a verticle stand with plenty of space.

So yes, it getting hot I suppose is normal.

Hi BigcorleonL,

This shouldn't be an issue as long as you haven't come across any additional issues on top of this? It does get  slightly warmer from the power, but not to the extent where you cannot touch it due to the heat.

Re: hot ps3 slim

Just to stay on the safe side I'd recommend turning your PS3 off when you're not using it to let it cool for a bit when it does get hot. You never know. :smileywink:
