Hi,
I have exactly the same problem which I cant fix. I have tried deleting, switching off & on and re-installing and cookies are set to "Allow".
I only got PS3 yesterday and am a complete novice. Perhaps my mistake was upgrading to the latest firmware!
One thing I did notice, is when i installed iplayer the first time, the PS£ did not seem to think it had been installed so it sort of went round in a loop installing a few times.
Iplayer is there, it just wont play anything!!
Regards
Lou

Yes - both Netflix and Lovefilm as well as the other catchup services.
The iplayer app starts fine and works ok but if you try to play anything it just says there is a problem playing

BBCiplayer is bandwidth demanding ideally a wired connection is recommended by the BBC themselves under the help information tab.
A constant 3.5 MB connection or better is needed for HD streams and 2.0 MB or better for Standard definition.
If you are using wireless a stable 100% signal is needed if that's unattainable you'll have problems. Google search "homeplugs" as an alternative to wireless they give you the equivalent to a wired connection.

(to the bold) Not necessarily, I have a quite weak PS3 signal of 45% average and Iplayer and other streaming content works fine here.

I don;t think its a network problem, iplayer does not try to stream, there is no buffering, the error message comes up straight away
