my own ps3 has now had the ylod for the 4th time and now want to get rid of it and move to the slim.

im guessing to be able to transfer my data, i need to be able to start the data transfer on the old ps3?

then get a slim hook up the old drive via usb and trans?

any other options?

You could try the Hairdryer trick to get the power running, then you'll have a few hours tops to do the transfer if it works. That's your only way of doing it I'm afraid.

u cant do a transfer via usb


you will need to get the old ps3 fixed and running before transfering any data

its not as simple as pulling the drive out and transfering it

Oh! And if you are able to get it running, the data transfer utility uses an Ethernet CrossOver cable, not a USB cable

If i transfer my data from one ps3 to a new one will it delete it from my old one? or just copy it over?

It'll copy all your data, besides copy protected items which are moved.
