Re: no colour
I assume you are using the SCART cable that comes with the PS3 and so must be playing it on an SDTV.
SD televisions output natively at 50Hz however on most menus and applications the PS3 outputs at 60Hz . Newer televisions (bought in the last 7 or 8 years) should be able to play without issue, though some older televisions and certain brands are not able to do this.
The only workaround for this would be to upgrade to a HDTV to ensure a good quality picture.
