was playing my ps3 slim last night and it was playing perfect gone to switch it on today and the startupscreen and xmb menu is distort its flickering and mirrored and you cant read the text but when i put a game in it plays fine . i tried the normal scart cable and that works but as soon as you switch back to hd it does it again ive also tried other hdmi cables and still no use (ive had my slim for 2 years now so its out of garuntee . and ive only just bought gt5 :-(      ) any help appreciated

Try powering off the machine, then holding the power button on the front until it beeps a second time. This should reset your display settings and force the PS3 to re-detect the compatible resolutions that the TV can display.

ive tried it mate it still wont have it  :-( totally gutted

This is a strange one, on your HDTV have you been able to try a different plug on the back?

Also you may want to try going through Safe Mode to see if this works at all?

yh mate ive also tried the cable on another ps3 and tv and it works fine . it was perfect last night like its always bin i was playing gt5 then turned it on this morning and this has happend

So to confirm, the issue is only with one tv?
Try resetting the tv to its default settings using its on screen menus. Consult the manufacturers website or manual if you don't know how to do that.

ive tried another ps3 on the tv and its fine .
