Hi. ps3 switches off by itself when I play games or watching movies. To turn it back on I need to unplug it first, then switch it back on. It will only play for 20 mins max. Please help

Does the front light completely switch off, or does one of the above appear? ^^^

The front light completely switch off. There is no brief yellow light or flashing red light at all. Nothing is flashing

If you leave it a few seconds and press power, does the standby light come back on?

no. I have to unplug it for it to be on

Does this turn off happen if you just leave it idle on the XMB for the same period of time?

no, but a bit longer

I would suggest trying a different power supply
