i have a LG LD950 3d tv. I connected my ps3 slim direct to the tv by HDMI cable.Downloaded the new firmware for 3d. I then downloaded the new 3d games, however the 3d mode is greyed out.
I have checked my display settings - all configured to HDMI but again no 3d option. It seems that i cannot enable 3D in the PS3 settings - i set HDMI Auto for the display and the 3D capabiity should be detected but it doesnt .
Even tried resetting the display options at start up but no joy.
Why wont the PS3 detect my PS3????
Btw its the type of 3d tv that has a 3d option so if selected on the tv remote control you can watch 3d movies etc. Could it be that the ps3 3d settings are not correct?
Any help would be appreciated and if i cannot play these games in 3d - can i obtain a refund please. Ideally i dont want a refund and just want to play the games in 3d.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you have a 3D compatible HDMI cable. You want the high speed one, heres a link to types from HDMI org.

thanks for the reply, i have swopped and changed the hdmi cables.
i have tried using a high speed hdmi cable and still the same.
im wondering if this could be fixed by sony as i have read on other forums of a similar problem
with samsung and phillip 3d tv models.

there are further similar grumbles on the av forum in a thread here
http://www.avforums.com/forums/ps3-hardware/133078
where other people cannot get their ps3 to recognise their 3d tv.
i do think the fault is on the part of sony and a patch/fix needs to be sorted if we are to successfully enjoy 3d gaming. i think as more people buy 3d tvs this complaint will rise also. Im not happy as having wasted nearly £30 for games that i cannot enjoy in 3d!!!![]()

Have you checked that you are indeed using a HDMI 1.4 cable - I'm led to believe highspeed or not older ones just wont work.
For my Samsung 3DTV, I connected it to my PS3 using the cable mentioned above and ran the display wizard on the PS3 which confirmed I had connected a 3D TV and then asked me if I wished to activate it.
After choosing 'yes' all 3D Games and 3D BluRay now ask if I want to switch to '3D Mode' when I launch them.
Works great, your in for a real treat once you have it all working okay!

I got the same TV and the same problem... I presume your talking about Motorstorm... the option to play in 3D is grey...
I got Wipeout HD working in 3D... However sometimes it cuts the screen in half!!
I've got a 10m HDMI (not sure if its 1.3 or 1.4) im using at the moment, wondering if that could be the problem!
