Dead PS3 (do i have ylod or not)?

ok, so my original 40gb fat ps3 happens to die today after 5 years of use.. was wondering if it got the ylod. how do you tell if it got the ylod, when only the green light works. (my red light was already broken, and i assume that the yellow light comes on in replace of the red light). if its not ylod was wondering why it died. below is what happens when i try to turn it on:

press the power button, turns on (green light turns on)

then instantly turns off making the double beep noise.

press power again, makes a single beep but doesnt turn on

press power again turns on (green light lights up) and same process happens.

remembering that my red light is broken (therefore i assume i can't see a yellow light) and only one light works on my ps3 that is the green light

Re: Dead PS3 (do i have ylod or not)?

Normally, it is a green light, followed by a brief yellow light and a blinking red light. Since your red LED is dead, you won't see the yellow or red lights (you get yellow when the green and red are on at the same time). Also, with a YLOD, the console will not turn on again by pressing the On button. It requires turning the console off and on with the switch at the back, then pressing the On button. From your description, it doesn't sound like a YLOD.

For more information, I would recommend giving your local Sony support line a call. You can find the number in the back cover of any of your games, or in your PS3 manual.
