My ps3 fat when I turn it on the fan roughly every 5 mins gets louder and louder and louder probley in about 5-6 stages and the beeps switches off and red light flashe. It won't turn back on unless I switch it off at the mains and then it just does the same again.

Any ideas already had it repaired once 320 gig hard drive YlOD and fan upgrade £130 prob out of warranty now don't really want to throw more money at it please help!

What's a £? Oh, you don't know you're in the Australia and New Zealand section of the forum.

Is your PS3 in a well ventilated area? Do you have lots of dust around the place? Is it a very hot day? The fan stepping up and then shutting down with the blinking red light (without the brief yellow light beforehand which means bigger problems) indicates overheating. You may simply have to move your console, or clean out some of the dust. If that doesn't help, then you'll probably need a technician to put some new thermal compound between the chips and the heatsink.
