Ok so i finally have my first day off in a year tomorrow, i have almost a week off and i was going to spend it "mostly" on my PS3 but it bloody died. YLOD the day before WITH my mafia II stuck in it, what the hell?

Ive got friggin people coming over for a lan and everything, i do have another PS3 but it has no saves no updates or anything. Is there a way to put one hard drive into another system i tried a while ago but it complains and wants to format it?

Either that or is there anywhere in Melb or gippsland that can fix it on the day? *****

i dont believe you can swap hard drive because they are encrypted to the individual ps3 i believe.

if your really desperate, i have fixed 4 ps3 that had ylod, i could have a go for you. where abouts in gippsland are you?
i assume its out of warranty.

theres a place in dandenong but i doubt they could do it same day.

Yeah i Phoned a few places but because its a 60gb version they all suggest i send it to sony.  So i guess ill just have to bite the massive $250 bullet, if it wasnt for my saves and the money i paid for the 60gb in the begining i would just buy a new one.

Worst part is they say it will take 2 weeks and then another 2 weeks for my bloody Mafia II game thats stuch in the console to be returned *****?

sony will wipe your hard drive anyway.
2 weeks to return a game, thats ridiculous.

2 of the ps3 i reflowed were 60gb, one of them is still going strong after 6 months. the other ones blu ray drive failed about a month after
but is now used as a media server, that been going strong for 3 months.(that one is mine, bought a slim to play games on)
i bought a jap ps3 for $20 which had ylod and fixed that, its still going strong, using that as a region A blu ray player.

We understand that you are upset by the process, but please keep in mind we are looking after your disc as well.

All discs that are recieved are checked for damage ( incase it happened on the way into us), if any damage is found we try to repair it and if it cannot be repaired then we try to replace it for you.

Seems pretty fair deal to me and if that was my disc Id be pretty re-assured by that.

So its not as ridiculous as it sounds.

Yeah i have been counting for months... we dont really get to take time off much because we dont get replaced and have to work short. Man i was *****, WTB Mafia II! Dam....

Well when my ps3 was returned they sent me back my disc at the same time. it was also in the same box loose with no case or anything. My disc got murdered. I doubt you want that to happen for you too.

But probably half the reason it got so wrecked was because they just had it loose in the box. well to be fair it looked like they taped it to the top of my ps3. But it was with only 1 piece of tape. I am so suprised it didnt get snapped.

But yea I had many problems with sony and they way they deal with your ps3.

My advice is make it your total last restort. Because they will take an angle grinder and a hammer to it. It will also probably take a detor to iraq on the way also.
