Hi Wired823,

It's likely best if you contact your local Support Centre to complete some troubleshooting and determine if it may need to be brought into the Service Centre to be repaired.

Ya i sent mine in to get "fixed" 4 months later that one broke i wanna know what i need to replace so i can fix it myself and not have to send mine in to get another crappy refurbished one. Is it the laser or is it the software jesus just tell us.

Re: PS3 Won't Read Game Discs... But Will Read Movie Discs???

I had the same problem earlier today... Turns out the BLURAY laser lens had burnt out like a light bulb that is why it still plays DVDs because it has two laser lens one for DVD nd the other for BLURAY. So I had it replaced for $85 from some guy on Craigslist. Now my ps3 works perfect (:

Re: PS3 Won't Read Game Discs... But Will Read Movie Discs???

That happend to me right now...but i found a way to fix it now the game works perfectly...Solution:

1. Go to the PS menu-game-game data utility

2. enter and hover over the game that is not working for you

3. press triangle and select delete

4. go to your game and play it

(This will require you to do the game update)

I hope this fixes your problem

Re: PS3 Won't Read Game Discs... But Will Read Movie Discs???

Ive tried everything to get the game to read. Sometimes it will then freeze out. I let if stay on when it freezes and like ten mins later it unfreezes then quit game and will work fine after that. It works when it want to it will read DVDS. This is crazy I havent even had it but a year. There is so many customer that has a  PS3 that dont want to read games. I think they should recall them and fix them. Its not fair that people spend money on a product and wont even last that long. I never had problems with nintendo, xbox, ps1, nintendo 64. Technolgly has gotton better but also crappy. I want my system to work right. I wonder if XBOX has these kind of problem? I dont know what else to do but throw it though the window. Im not paying to get it fixed when it should be working.
