My brother's PS3 recently developed a fault, PS3 turns on, you get a green light for 2 seconds maximum then it turns off, sometimes it won't even turn on at all.
Has anyone else had this issue and sorted it out, I suspect it's power supply might be shot.

Its possible the power supply is shot but it could be other things and is way to hard to diagnose over the interwebs.
Call your local Playstation support centre and see what can be done, thats your best bet.

Hey supe73,
Sorry to hear of your brother's console woes.
If the power light is turning off completely, the best way to determine where the fault lies, is to replace the power cable (a slim PS3 uses a standard 'figure 8' power cable, you may have one for your stereo or DVD player) - using an alternate power outlet, and not using a power board.
If you're still having the same issue, then we can determine it's a problem with the console itself.
Best then to contact your local PlayStation Support Centre for further advice.

Hey man, whats up?
heard about your brothers ps3. feel sorry.
anyways have you got the CD out of there?
i've got a way that might help.
1st, make sure that the powere switch is off for the ps3.
2nd, press and hold the eject button for atleast 5 secs.
3rd, switch on the power and it will start to blow all the dust out of the system.
Nows your chance. Rapidly press the eject button until the CD comes out.
Thats when i found out that my MW3 disc was broken....![]()
hope that helps

Hi ANGRYfijian4,
This is a standard force eject method for a 40GB and 80GB console only.
All you need to do is:
Start with power switch on the rear set to "Off"
Place your finger on the eject on the front whilst turning it back "On"
Once you hear the fans kick in, you can take your finger off the "Eject" button.
You may need to do this twice.
