Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

To force an update just go to the system update icon on the homescreen and check for an update....Usually the PS3 does this for you and lets you know there is an update......but with 3.56v2....they aren't telling anyone.

Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

Come on Sony,

We just want to know what to do.

Be fair with your consumers, and say what we have to do. We didn't anything wrong(most of us). And we should not pay for any fixes.

A PS3 can have a HDD swap, and no warning messages were given.

Some of us(my case) had issues after you launching your fix, my HDD just broke with the mandatory and bugged update 3.56v1.

Please. At least say we lost our PS3 forever :smileysad: and what to do next 'cause we can't pay for a fix. It is not fair and definitely you are going to pay for this.

In Spain we are fighting for our rights... we are organizing a group in Facebook to press sony, and maybe, take legal actions.

Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

Usually I'm a very optimistic person and have a lot of patience, but this situation is looking mighty grim and rather hopeless at this point. Sony is being very deceptive with the way that they handled the re-release of the update and the way they are handling this situation in particular. For them to go almost a month by now, without even so much as a simple acknowledgment of their customers suffering is pathetic. My guess is that they are completely aware and have no intention of going out of their way to fix it. For them to not notice a forum with over 110 pages, this much traffic, (and I don't know about the rest of you sending them but I know I have flooded the emails) a delgue of emails to customer support/higher ups/other Sony services, and not to mention all of the phone calls, is highly, and I mean .0003% of a chance, unlikely. If Sony wants money, which they made very clear in that last interview, then this is certainly one way to do it. If we don't band together and pursue the class action lawsuit or do something to fight this, we may never see out ps3s again (unless you want to pay for their mistake, which I for one do not and will not).

Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

Man, i agree,, will we ever get a fix? man, i'm here in the United States and i still have a broken ps3, with the economy, i cant buy a new one or even spend money to get it fix for something i should not be accounted for.

If i actually did something wrong, i would gladly pay for this, but this is not my fault, not OUR FAULT.

Atleast tell us if your working on it or something... This is inhumane. Rich ***** dont give a flying crap about their customers

Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

Personally, I wont be paying to have my PS3 fixed. If I cannot get it working I will use the 640GB HDD I bought for it and put it into my PC. Then I will buy Portal 2 on the PC; its the game I am most looking forward to this year.

Come on Sony, fix it or lose me...

Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

so i just forced an update on my ps3(fat 40gb) and the installed my new 320 gb harddrive and it allowed it to be formatted and the system is now working so if you still have your old old hard and it still works this is the way to go but i dont understand is why sony is being so shady about it why do they make us force update it?

Re: System Update 3.56 Data Corrupted after Swap HDD

Yeah it is pretty shady, Reno. And if you do not have your original HDD (meaning it's not working), then you're screwed.
