Technical Support Posting Help

[ Edited ]

Due to the recent surplus of double, triple, etc. posts in the technical support section I would like to give people some advice regarding posting in the technical support section.

1. Two may be better than one...

But reposting a topic thirty times is not going to get you an answer any quicker, most likely it will simply confuse people looking for an answer to their own problems and mean that useful topics get buried beneath the deluge of threads. Multiple threads will either be locked or purged so don't be surprised when they are.

2. Seek and you shall find...

The forum has a search function for a reason and yes it does work. If you are having trouble finding what you are looking for then search for keywords in the forums to make getting this information a lot faster.

3. If you can't say something nice...

This one is simple. Flaming, inciting flaming or posting intentionally unhelpful information is against the Terms & Conditions for this forum as you are all aware and will not be tolerated. If someone is behaving in this manner then there is a report abuse button for a reason so please press this instead of the reply button.

4. Words of wisdom should be preserved...

If you find a particularly useful post regarding a problem you have had or even one that you haven't and simply think it is awesome then PM a moderator to ask for the thread to be pinned for future use.

5. For the masses...

Abbreviations and some technical terms are useful when people understand exactly what your talking about, the unfortunate thing is not everyone does. Before posting in the technical section please make sure that what your posting is something that can be understood by everyone from your beginning user to your hardcore gamer.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's all simple stuff guys and it helps to keep this place fun and open to everyone, if your posting here you either are experiencing an issue or simply trying to help. Whatever the case I hope this simple advice helps you on your way to getting the most from your forums experience.

Peace,

Re: Technical Support Posting Help

Can I request that the thread of different error codes by SAIUN be pinned and maybe if you feel the need be checked for authentication? Its very useful in diagnosing problems.

I know your kudos don't get tallied... but I shall add to yours.. good thread :smileyhappy:

Can I add that posting angry or misleading titles, or short titles such as "Why??" don't usually attract helpful responses.... even though it is quite natural to feel really annoyed when things aren't working properly..

Re: Technical Support Posting Help

Hi byrnes_85.
Hope you have resolved your issue by now, if not:
Please try a soft reset on the playstation.
Firstly turn the console off into standby mode( red light displayed).
Then hold the power button on the front of the console untill you hear a second beep.
Please make sure the console is plugged into the tv correctly and the tv chanel is also correct.
If this dosnt help your situation, please contact support for further info.

Re: Technical Support Posting Help

Updated my PS3 60gb to version 3.50 and my disk drive wont read any type of disk. I have tried replacing my Blu Ray drive with a friends drive and that does not read disk in my PS3. But his drive and my drive work on his PS3.

Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know of a fix? Is it really the Firmware update? Or have i been screwed by sony?

PS3 has never been hacked and probably gets used once a month if its lucky these days (mainly used as a Blu Ray Player)

Please HELP as i really only brought it to play GT5
