my ps3 slim 120g wont play cod black ops,this the second copy ive had,the first played at first then the error message 80010514 started to appear or it would crash the whole system,now the second copy wont play at all. every other game i have works fine. is there a problem with the ps3. and who does repairs. or is it the game ... please help.

Hi, R-E-BHOY

It can be one of two things

1. the firmware has played up

2. the laser that reads your discs have screwed up

Best solution i can give you is to ring sony on

A friend has the exact same problem, but he also cant play Modern Warfare 2, similar engine I guess.

But does anyone care to guestimate when the next firmware is due?  Im calling within two months.

Sounds like your PS3 console has developed some Common Sense!!

But on a serious note, have you tried re-installing the game data? sometimes game data can be corrupted, which effects the game, just delete it and re-install. see if that works.

If it wasnt playing any games i would have said it might be the BD drive, but seeing as you can play everything except COD it would more likely be a software issue than hardware or firmware.

yeah man I'm having the same problem i updated my system firmware whenever it was and now I cant play black ops its the only game this happens to i tried restoring data etc etc  error 80010514 witch apparently means ur blue ray wont play that media anymore witch is not true cause only black ops wont work wish somebody could help

the parental settings haven't been applied by any chance?

i was searching and trying EVERYTHING and FOUND a fix..... not sure where it was but i donot take credit for this but share it with all of you because i know how upset i was..... 

turn ps3 off
hold the ps3 button to turn it on and keep holding till it does a double beep. 
it will bring you to a few options... click restore ps3.
baaam it works for me... no lagging at the intro screen. its like day 1 again.... i wish you all the best of luck as well !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That almost worked, it still freezes a little bit, thanks for that, but is there anyway to stop the freezing cause it wont get e to the home screen just stops at a white screen.
