Home How-To: The Camera!

How often have you spent a happy hour in Home, partying at an event and giggling like a loon? And how many times have you thought to yourself, "oh boy! If only I could capture this memory forever! I would totes put this up on Facebook, Imageshack and the forums!"
Now your Facebook-tagging dreams can be realised, thanks to the brand new Home Camera!

Featuring a forty million megapixel Carl Zeiss lens and up to 10x optical zoom*, the Home Camera is THE gadget to have! Celebrities everywhere have been spotted taking photos, including a certain M. Buster! Wow! I want one too!

*Note: Camera does not feature a forty million megapixel Carl Zeiss lens and up to 10x optical zoom.

Surely a camera so sexy and sophisticated must be difficult to use, right? Not so! The new Home Camera is so simple, even an idiot like I can use it! Check it out:

1: Hit Start!
2: Go to Personal > My Inventory > Camera
3: Hit Activate! Your Camera is now ready to use - you don't even have to wait for the flash to warm up!
:smileysurprised:

Now, how about actually taking those photos? You may have noticed three options at the top of your screen. If not, take a moment to look at them. They are:

Take Screenshot
First Person View
Put Away

Take Screenshot
Simple and easy, this lets you snap whatever's on your screen right now. Usernames will be removed, as well as chat text. You can still move your avatar around to position them better for your picture.
Hit Square to take a screenshot. There'll be a delay whilst the image is saved.

I used this earlier to take a photo of my avatar chillin' out on her balcony. Even though she has these kickass Astroturf sofas, nobody ever comes to visit, so she just sits there looking out to sea... :smileysad:

First Person View
This will take a photo from the eyes of your avatar! Woah, spooky! Whatever your avatar is looking at, you'll be looking at, too. In this mode, you cannot move your avatar.

Hit L2 to enter First Person View.
Right Stick will change where your Camera is pointed at.
Left Stick will zoom in and out.
Hit Square to take your picture.

L2 will switch back to Standard View.

I use this to check out the docks my avatar's apartment overlooks. I've noticed these cars driving around the docks and a yacht sailing away from here lately, and I just know they're up to something shady!

And I zoom in using Left Stick to look at the boat in question! I know you're in there! I'm an honorary member of the Famous Five, you know!

Let's say you take a beautiful shot. The framing is perfect, the subject is beautiful, and the picture... the picture is stuck on your PS3. What to do, dear friends, what to do? Well, you see, it's simples.

  • First, you need a USB memory stick. I prefer a sleek silicon-cased USB stick, but you may want to use something in polyvinyl.
  • Now you need to exit Home. I know it's difficult, but trust me, you can do this.
  • Plug your memory stick into the USB port of your choice.
  • On your XMB, browse to the Photo section.
  • Scroll to the photo you just took.
  • Hit Triangle, and choose Copy.
  • Select your memory stick as the destination. It may be called "USB Device" or something similar.
  • Hit X to confirm the copy, or O if you want to cancel.
  • Huzzah! Your lovely picture is now available for the showing-off.

Plug your USB stick back into your PC (or your Mac, Apple-types). Open it up using your operating system's explorer. I'll assume you know the basics of using your own PC. You may have a folder called "PICTURE" now in your USB memory stick - this is where your Home photos will have ended up!

Now let's say you don't know where you should be posting these photos. Well, the forums are a good start! There's a couple of threads going dedicated to your awesome Home photos. Here's one!
When you Reply to one of these threads, there should be a button with a little tree on it (if you are using the Graphical Editor). Click it!
A box will pop up. Click the "browse" button and go to your picture.
Once it's uploaded, you can select whether or not to show it full sized or not.
Now hit Insert Image and... ta-da! There's your Home Photo!

Give it a try!

Nice guide Moshii!

Just another bit to the guide here for ya!

FLASH!

Of course you wanna make your pics look flashy, so why not add a flash to perfect the scene?!

Hold the Square button, instead of taking a screenshot and it should add that extra finish to your picture!

And it should take a screenshot :smileyhappy:

Re: Home How-To: The Camera!

moshii i would like to add that you can also upload your images without leaving home

go to the Xi alumni hub after you have your screenshots go upstairs to the terminal  go on web browser and search for flickr or photobucket whatever sharing site you use

then upload your images from the HDD there whilst in home

come in handy if you dont have a usb stick at hand
