Quick "noob" question on the scoring & hope I'm not stirring any pots on asking this?

Should there not be a set scoring for first place irrespective of how many were seated at a game?

I mean, I think it's possibly more fair if first place gets for example 5 points (or even 6 if you want), whether you were playing in a 4; 5 or 6 seated game?

It's just a thought... Cause there's no true reflection if for example someone always won on being saddled with 4 seating vs someone always winning in a 6 seating right?

I guess the point system reflects the challenge of the table. What's a bigger achievement? Winning at a table of 6, or winning at a table of 4?

^^^ A fair point & one I did consider... I won last night at a 6 seated session, so in theory I shouldn't query & shoot myself in the foot here, but winning i.m.o. should be fair across the system, because not everyone will get in on a 6 seat game unless there is a an allocation system!
It is anyway all for fun & it is just my thoughts... Use it or not, I have no hang ups. I will still enjoy myself!

cheers nick for your views. we did talk about what scoring system we would use and decided to base it on one that the portuguese poker league used. no matter how we roll the dice it will always favour one person over another (though as this is poker perhaps we should say "no matter how we deal the cards..." ). i think when we run the next poker "tournament" for all nations we'll have to evaluate the scoring system for the uk section of the forums and see what works (though we might just go with what we did - a knockout tournament which i think worked very well).

still, let's keep this topic open for discussion and if we can work out something else for the future that works then we can certainly implement it.

@skells22 - sorry man! hopefully we'll see you there next wednesday. though saying that, i might not be able to make it as it is my wife's birthday!
