Re: About the 'Social Side' of Home

Hehe thank you Furys-embrace for justifying my lulz kind of :manhappy:

Home is a bit different from other social networks, because you just have to be a member to be able to see all conversation/chat in a Place. Normally (well, Facebooky) you have to befriend each and every one unless they're completely public. And I like that kind of forced publicness, it's more like Twitter maybe, because what you say then really defines how you act among strangers. I know you can go in a group of course and have clubs, and that hasnt really taken off yet but I'm not so big of a fan of the clubs though... But I'm not a part of a gaming group tho...

But we'll see how it goes in Home, and in the meantime I'll try to stay cool :smileytongue:

I can see where you're coming from with this but to me, there are just too many oddities for the fams and kids to completely ruin Home for me. What I mean is, as an "older guy" I find watching the way teens interact with eachother quite fascinating sometimes. Sure I get bored of listening to their smack-talk when one group starts on another, but even that can be fun to watch play out. Were you just having a bad night Snozz?

Feeling disillusioned? Kidz-in-Home got you down?

Then come on over the Cardboard Cartel, we'll sell you crap that don't exist so you can get that hollow, retail therapy that you KNOW you need to make it all A-OK again!

Seriously though, if you find you're looking for deep and meaningful conversation then I have some small open windows regarding that kinda thing. More often than not you'll find me talking crap but catch me on a good day and it's all expansion and contraction of the universe, Drake's Equasion theories, sub-atomic robotics and what-have-you. If you fancy a deep chat about life or even better; games then I'm all for that too, but do bear in mind the majority of the time I will just be talking crap.

Bad day? Bump that up to bad year and you've got it :smileyvery-happy: But that night in particular seemed worse than normal. You know those days when someone says one thing to wind you up and you feel like flipping the table over in rage? That kind of day.

I talk crap about 99% of the time as well to be honest. I'm not even going to pretend that there is much going on between my ears, although I do try to have meaningful conversations when they pass. It's just hard to find people who will even amuse me with the mad rambles sometimes.

When I have found someone though, we usually end up talking for hours, which is great. But trying to maintain that? Not so great. One of my friends went and did the whole 'Home relationship' thing and his choice of girlfriend did not allow him to to talk to me, simply because I was also female.

:Shame:

I don't do relationships, online or off and I am completely incapable of flirting. Silly woman had no reason to fear. Silly boy needed to grow some balls and know what bro's come before

Snozzlenut: Interesting post and also how you experience Home, thanks a lot :smileywink:

Personally, I am a tiny bit surprised because my experience of Home is way different than yours (apparently)!

Not that I'm trying to make a point of whether your or mine experience is the "correct one" of course...

But are there really so many haters? I haven't met them maybe or maybe I don't frequent the same places they do...

To introduce myself for a bit her, I am a normal computer engineer, middle-class, "fitting in" so to speak with the ipod wearing masses in the morning :smileytongue:

I am male yes, but when I play e.g. Mass Effect and choose gender - I wanna look at a pretty girl rather than some g.i. joe's derriere for the 40 or so hours playing the game.

So the transition to use a female avatar in Home is slightly obvious... I say slightly because I understand that some people might say that I'm sailing under a false flag or something... But I don't care... I'm not even annoyed by it because it's so stupid to get angry over something like that... Shouldn't the things I say and communicate in Home be more important to be truthful than what my avatar looks like? Because if not, I see some gaping security flaws here... :smileytongue:

Maybe I'm wrong - but if so I'd like to hear your reasoning

cheers

Haha, why wouldn't you play Mass Effect as Femshep? She delivers lines brilliantly, Maleshep kills them.

I don't take issue with what people chose for their avatar. Unless you are purposely trying to lead people on, or do that annoying n00b move of going up to other female avatars as a girl going 'I am lesbian, are you to?' They are annoying.

I have come across a couple of people that I know are guys dressed as girls, same as the other way round. They don't lie about it so I have no issue with them at all.

Admittedly I prefer some of the male clothes, usually the costumes as they get all the cool ones and we get the smutty ones :smileysad: I would just get the male costumes but I'm fed up with arguements over my gender enough as it is.

I just like to make my avatar look cool, which is partly why I get insulted for just standing there. It's always angry guys who don't seem to like that I'll have on a pretty outfit, then some kind of stupid head item like the bomberman head or the sodium 2 racer mask. I can't imagine how sad it must be to be so sexually frustrated that you need to see a pixel's face or else explode in anger at them.

Re: About the 'Social Side' of Home

I guess sometimes when a man loves a woman, he'll let her walk all over him. Or maybe she has something he really, REALLY wants and will do anything to get it ; ) I'm sorry you lost your friend to a jelous woman Snozz.

I know what you mean by it being difficult to keeping that kinda chat going; but everyone has days they wanna wax lyrical about these kinda things (or maybe not) and other days they just wanna yap tripe (as per usual). If we ever meet in Home, I suggest we throw some crazy stuff at eachother and see if it sticks, if it does we can add eachother, if not well, no harm done eh! But you sound like the kind of person I'd like to chat to so hopefully we'll meet some time and I might even manage to quell that Home-rage you have!

Re: About the 'Social Side' of Home

I met Snozz on home once, just after those lockwood japa-bots came out and she was stood all alone on the grass in the sqaure wearing the geisha. I asked her to pose as I hadnt seen the custom animations, she politely complied, I thanked her then walked off coz shes a bit scary at times on here when she gets going and I was worried I'd incur her wrath lol

That was you? I totally remember that

I'm not that scary I swear! I just seem that way when I try to be rational and instead just go all formal and ramble too much while I pretend to know what I'm talking about.

I'd make a great politician...

Re: About the 'Social Side' of Home

Hmm, elephant eh? How very inconspicuous of you lol. I might not be around for a lil' while though as I've been sucked back into LBP and I'm getting back my 100% game save from a dead PS3 fiasco...

I love that elephant

Oh no :smileysurprised: dead PS3 fiasco! That sounds bad, good luck with all that business.

I've got my eye on another Platinum trophy so I shouldn't be grumping around Home too much for a while either :smileyvery-happy:

Re: About the 'Social Side' of Home

For all of you who wish to change your wicked ways of not meeting new people i have a little something for you :smileytongue:

I will be holding a community meet up as of from next week.

This will give everyone a chance to get to know each other, have a chat with some like minded people and possibly make some new friends in the process. All are welcome to join. Old and new, young and old alike.

The meet up will take place at the Adventure Space on Tuesday 8th of May 2012 from 7pm until 9pm BST.

If you wish to attend then add me on IAmNinjaRabbit (it's an i not an L) for a direct link to the space. If all goes well then i will make this a recurring weekly event.

So see you all there and remember to have fun!

You're better off making a new thread for this Vicki, more people will spot it then, even though it is very relevant to this discussion.
