Stability Issues

Now, if you follow me on twitter, between my rants about my iPod not updating and whether or not to wake up you will have noticed that once again I've had to redownload ALL OF HOME AGAIN!:AngryDevil:

I know this has been an issue amongst many users and is a great inconvenience to everyone who experiences it so to all who have experienced this issue could you please post where you had the problem and describe it as best you can.

Tips for replies:

  • Where were you/ were you going when this began?
  • How often have you been able to reproduce the problem?
  • Have you fixed it yet? If so, how?
  • Did this affect your overall opinion of home?

I'll go first:

I was invited to the Hub (original) and upon the loading bar filling the www sign would stop spinning and the whole console would lock up.

  • How often have you been able to reproduce the problem?
Every time I load up Home.

  • Have you fixed it yet? If so, how?
Completely deleting Home and redownloading.

  • Did this affect your overall opinion of home?
Sadly it has as now I've lost all my Xi data and all my locations which is very irritating as there are now a vast number of locations to download. It has made me less tempted to log on as I now know that it could happen again and in order to go anywhere I'll have to redownload the location when I could better spend the time playing a game.

Re: Home Stability Issues.

Ok, well this hasn't personally happened to me, but have experience the loss of data such as Xi, which is very irritating, therefore my response is relative to the fact data cannot be restored in this respect.  Game save data will need backing up seperately sometimes.

So the below is just my experience of losing data, not having to delete the Home app due to corrrupt data.  I do know a lot of people who have to keep doing this, so I am curious how many it is affecting.

  • Where were you/ were you going when this began?
This happened to me when my PS3's broke twice in a row, I was watching in horror the last time as my PS3 painfully died from speckle dot death.  Previous to this, gobble up Killzone 2 disc also had me in virtual tears.
  • How often have you been able to reproduce the problem?
Random, only when my PS3 decides to break
  • Have you fixed it yet? If so, how?
Yes, I paid for a replacement
  • Did this affect your overall opinion of home?
No, changed my opinion on Sony's customer service department in some respects, I was expecting Home to not be there when I got my new, working PS3

And on a slightly less happy note I now can't redownload home. :smileysad: It just gets better and better...

Re: Home Stability Issues.

Here's the sequence I've experienced several times now:

1. Entering a new space [The Penthouse Apartment] the download bar is displayed, and starts loading the new area, only to freeze before completion.

2. The only way out of the freeze is to reset the PS3.

3. This corrupts the Home installation, displays 'corrupt data' where Home should be.

4. The only way to remove the corrupt item is to format the PS3 HD.

This has happened to me on the final space for Xi, and the new Penthouse space.

It seems to be linked to the sequence that items in spaces are downloaded now, Home has become very unstable for me.

How many of you are unable to use the 'Report User' function? I haven't been able to for weeks.

Re: Home Stability Issues.

I haven't had to reformat the PS3 but that sounds like a more serious version of what happens to me. I've also noticed that home seems to get slower the more spaces you download. I.e. The initial loading bar whilst displaying the home logo on a black screen is instant for the first login or two but when you download spaces the whole thing slows down.

My report abuse is very erratic too. Sometimes it works flawlessly and other times kicks me out or lags so badly the person has left before I regain control.

Re: Home Stability Issues.

I'm still locked out of home and wondering if anyone else is in my boat? As of now I'm getting signed out of PSN whenever I try to download it and if it loads at all it jumps immediately to 500+ minutes remaining and dies.

Maybe I was never meant to get home..:smileysad:

Is anyone else experiencing any of the issues raised in this thread as I know of at least another 4 or 5 people with problems.

And I thought they read the closed forums often.....  Obviously easier to remove people than help them out then.
