I - or should that be: Finn MacCool has
- an idea : this clearly an appetite amongst some Home users for international travel. Some people are curious about other Homes, some people like doing the virtual tourist thing and taking in the scenery, some people are interested in collecting exotic unlockables and freebies - but right now, the only way to do so involves breaking t & cs and/ or complicated and mysterious hacking. So why not make it legitimate BUT (and here's why my idea differs) charge for it? There have been whispered rumours of a monorail which apparently exists in some half-finished form behind the scenery of Home so why not finish it and let users buy "tickets" to other regions? Result: everyone's a winner. Those users interested in checking out Home in other regions get to do so and bring home the virtual booty while Sony gets additional revenue which it could either keep for itself (given recent news reports it could probably use the money) or distribute on a pro rata basis to advertisers and game developers as compensation for a proportion of viewers being from outside the target regions...
Not sure if this is really rubbish idea but I thought I'd float it anyway
What's so wrong with region hopping anyway? If Home was seething with region-specific advertising I might be able to understand Sony's reluctance to allow it....

I think this idea actually makes sense, because it's a win/win situation. Though I'd like to see a 'passport' implacated, so you know where the use is from, where they've been, and how many times.
Also, because they're paying, it should be a ticket for a week. This would allow the user to make the most of the time if they can't be around the PS3 for some time.

just got a little lame idea.
if we were to be able to travel across regions, then - as someone said - we should have some sort of passport.
however, content from other regions are "disallowed" in our region, and the other way around.
So, if we were to pay for that passport, like a way to pay for seeing all the other regions' content.
most people won't like this idea, but i believe it would be possible if we gave some money for that passport.
maybe you should get a passport for each region, like a license to legally be on the others regions' servers??
lame idea, probably flawed as hell... but giving ideas, wether they work or not, is what it's all about, isn't it?
